01 Technology leader / Founder / Glaswegian

A life in
translation.

I’m Steven Donoghue. I grew up with a Glasgow way of seeing things: direct, warm, and suspicious of unnecessary fuss. That instinct has travelled with me through technology, across countries, into family life, and now into the things I’m building for myself.

02 The through-line

Different chapters. The same instinct.

Make the complicated
feel human.

The surface details have changed — networking, security, family, products, clothes, food, software. The recurring job has not: understand what matters, remove the noise, and leave people with something they can trust.

01

Glasgow gave me the edge

A practical instinct: say the thing plainly, look after your people, and do not confuse polish with proof.

02

The work took me outward

From London into Cisco roles across Scotland, Boston, San Francisco and New York, I learned to translate difficult technology into decisions people can actually make.

03

Now the work comes home

The next chapter is less about collecting more complexity and more about making useful things: a receipt that remembers, a private system that helps, and a family story kept with care.

03 Building now

Products, systems and stories with a reason to exist.

05 The operating system

No grand manifesto. Just a way of working.

01

Useful over ornamental.

Start with the problem. Earn every extra layer.

02

Proof over posture.

Show the working thing. Be honest about what comes next.

03

Human all the way through.

Technology should make life clearer, not colder.
